Laboratory exercises:

• Evaluation of housing conditions for productive animals: Ventilation, lighting and environmental rearing conditions. Breeding density.

• Basic principles of stable hygiene: Disinfection-disinfestations. Cleaning and disinfection. Natural and chemical disinfectants.

• Methodology of clinical examination of animals: Overview, Palpation, Hearing, Thermometry, Special tests.

• Isolation of DNA from samples collected from productive animals.

• Molecular detection (PCR) of pathogenic microorganisms.

• Handling of productive animals in the context of their clinical examination, collection of samples. Principles of sampling and transporting samples to the laboratory.

• Breast health: Methodology for clinical diagnostic investigation of mastitis cases.
